Petaling Jaya, 13 June 2024 – Sunview Group Berhad (“Sunview” or the “Group”), a prominent renewable energy player principally involved in the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (“EPCC”) and related activities, announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Fabulous Sunview Sdn Bhd is collaborating with the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan for two solar energy projects in Uzbekistan.

Through a development and cooperation agreement with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy, the aim of the two projects is to develop large-scale solar photovoltaic (“PV”) plants and battery energy storage systems (“BESS”) in Uzbekistan. Sunview will be responsible for the design, engineering, procurement, and construction of a 400 MWac solar PV plant with a 100MW/200MWh BESS in the Andijan district, and a 200 MWac solar PV plant with a 50MW/100MWh BESS in the Fergana district.

Sunview will also serve as the investor and asset owner for these projects. Sunview Group Berhad group executive director & group chief executive officer HP Ong said, “We are proud to be awarded these significant projects, which mark a notable achievement in our ongoing commitment to renewable energy and overseas expansion. This collaboration with Uzbekistan highlights our capabilities in delivering solar PV plant and BESS on a large scale.”

“These 600MWac solar PV plant and 150MW/300MWh BESS projects added to our pipeline will provide financial feasibility to the Group in the coming years, supported by the favourable tariff for both the solar PV plants and BESS. They will also accelerate Uzbekistan's transition to renewable energy, helping to achieve a 40% contribution from renewable sources by 2030. By increasing the contribution of renewables, our projects will not only contribute to a stable energy supply but also reduce the nation's carbon footprint. We look forward to a successful partnership with the Uzbekistan government,” he added.
